Prayer about Catalonia's vote for independence

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/10/europe/catalonia-how-we-got-here/index.html
Lord, you know more than all of us how complicated life is. Sin entered this world and marred all relationships, along with the rest of creation. This brokenness has complicated everything from sibling relationships to churches to marriages to nations. Lord, today we pray for Spain, including Catalonia. This very day Catalonia voted for independence, which came about after a long history of dissatisfaction. With a desire to nurture and develop their culture--different from the majority of Spain--Catalans have resented their wealth being used disproportionately for the rest of the nation. Many have not felt solidarity with their fellow Spanish citizens. We know this is merely the tip of the proverbial iceberg. And we have seen the tensions rise, boiling over in the violence surrounding the October 1 referendum. And now the vote for independence... And the declaration of the national government that the vote is unconstitutional. We wait, Lord, to see what will happen next. Even more, we pray for your will to unfold. Glorify yourself in the midst of this seemingly unbearable tension. Help leaders from both "sides" stand by their pledges for peaceful resolution. May the results of this standoff lead to what is best for as many people as possible. May the citizens who voted and those who didn't, and may those who rule from Barcelona and those who rule from Madrid all seek your wisdom and guidance in this situation. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
