Prayer for Anglo-Irish relations under Boris Johnson

Lord God, today we pray about Boris Johnson’s impending appointment as British prime minister. We know he faces many major concerns, but today we take a moment to specifically pray about how he will handle Anglo-Irish relations. With elected officials such as Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin sharing their doubts about Mr. Johnson’s awareness of Irish issues, we pray proactively that these leaders will be able to communicate well and develop a quick understanding of each other. We do pray that Mr. Johnson and his cabinet ministers will gain (or already have) keen insight into how to best handle the Good Friday Agreement and the devolved Stormont Assembly. Lord, we know you are intimately acquainted with the sometimes-tumultuous and violent Anglo-Irish history. May the words and the acts of the wise bring healing. May Mr. Johnson lead the nation into a very constructive season. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
