Prayer about Bolivian political crisis

Almighty God, Bolivia needs your help. Ever since ousted president Evo Morales fled for political asylum to Mexico, the country has been in upheaval. We desire that people would “not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, [that they would] repay evil with blessing,” in order to receive their own blessing (1 Peter 3:9). Starting with Morales and Interim President Jeanine Anez, may people choose the way of Christ: justice, mercy and humility. We pray that Anez and the interim government would follow through on their pledge to have new elections as quickly as possible. We pray for these elections to be fair, accurate, and well-informed. And, Heavenly Father, we pray for protesters to be able to safely and peaceably express their opinions. May neither the protesters nor the military choose violence at any point. We grieve over those who have already died in the midst of this chaos, and we pray that their deaths would inspire others to choose another way to express themselves and to manage the country well. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
