Gracious Heavenly Father, we plead for your mercy and
strength for the family that experienced a horrific accident in Washington
County, Maryland, Monday night. Lord, the layers of sadness are overwhelming. To
imagine those twin four-year-old girls chasing their older cousin onto an
interstate, only to both be struck down before their mother’s eyes… Lord, the
pain is great. We pray for the living sister, who is fighting to recover from
her injuries and also the loss of her sister. We pray about the guilt plaguing
anyone involved. We pray for those who grieve, particularly asking for extra grace
on those who witnessed the event. We pray for investigators as they do their
work. We pray for the emergency personnel who handled the devastating scene. Lord,
your mercy is needed over all layers of this tragedy. We pray for healing and
hope, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
